Jailbreak Your iPhone 3GS 3.0

Not even a week after showing solid proofs of a successful iPhone 3GS jailbreak, GeoHot officially released PurpleRa1n, a tool to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS. The Dev Team planned to release their 3GS jailbreak after the OS 3.1 update but GeoHot just couldn’t wait.

Normally I don’t make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn’t worth waiting because you might have the “last” hole in the iPhone. What last hole…this isn’t golf. I’ll find a new one next week. Also your purplera1nyday files ensure that you can always get back to a jailbroken state, so if you have it it’s just a matter of tools.

Before going through a short PurpleRa1n tutorial, there are a few things you need to know:

This is a beta release works fine on Windows and Mac
You must have the latest version of iTunes installed
The jailbreak is incomplete and many apps won’t work (ie WinterBoard)
Jump the break to read the full tutorial.

How to jailbreak iPhone 3GS using PurpleRa1n:



1. Make sure you have installed the latest version of iTunes.

2. Download PurpleRa1n.
  
3. Plug in your iPhone to your computer. Make sure iTunes is closed.

4. Run PurpleRa1n and click “Make it Ra1n”. You should get a message saying that your iPhone is “waiting for reboot”. Your iPhone will then reboot in recovery mode and you should see the image above on your iPhone screen. If you don’t see this image after a few minutes, then it probably failed and you have to repeat the process (remember, I told you it is very unstable).

5. After a few minutes, your iPhone will reboot and you will have a new icon on your springboard: Freeze.

6. Launch the Freeze app and install Cydia from there.

7. Once Cydia is installed, close Freeze and reboot your iPhone.

8. Launch Cydia and do a complete update.

9. Should you want to get rid of the Freeze icon, install CyDelete from Cydia, and delete the Freeze icon as you would delete an App Store app (hold until the icons wiggle and delete it).

10. Should you want to unlock your iPhone 3GS, simply install UltraSn0w from Cydia.

That’s it. Pretty simple, but again, it is very buggy so use it at your own risk! I do recommend for most of you to wait the iPhone 3GS jailbreak by the Dev Team. This jailbreak should come in the next few days so be patient!

Unlock your iphone 3.0 with Ultrasn0w

Ultrasn0w for iPhone 3G is ready!
  1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
  2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
  3. Run Cydia or Icy
  4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy.  That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
  5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
  6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
  7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
  8. Enjoy

  1. Asegurate de haber actualizado a la version de firmware 3.0
  2. Haz un Jailbreak a tu iPhone 3G usando Redsnow o Pwnage Tool (Mac) Esto instala Cydia/Icy
  3. Abre Cydia o Icy
  4. Favor de añadir la fuente o repositorio repo666.ultrasn0w.com  ."esa 0 en Sn0w es un Cero! no pongas la letra o."
  5. Busca ultrasn0w en cydia o Icy e Instala Ultrasn0w
  6. Reinicia (apaga y prende) tu iPhone 3G
  7. Disfruta!

Install Cracked apps on iPhone / iPod Touch 3.0 from Cydia

How to patch MobileInstallation 3.0 Firmware
1. Go to “Cydia”.

2. Click on “Manage” tab on the bottom.

3. Now click on “Sources”

4. Click on “Edit” and then on “Add”. Type “http://cydia.hackulo.us” and click on “Add Source”.

5. After installation is completed. Search for “AppSync” in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically patch your mobileinstallation file.

You should be now able to install all of your jailbroken apps on iPhone OS 3.0.

Para instalar applicaciones Crackeadas (modificadas) en tu iPhone 3.0 / iPod Touch 3.0 desde Cydia

1. Abre Cydia

2. Ve a Manage 

3. click en Sources (fuentes)

4. Click en Edit (editar) luego en Add (añadir). Escribe “http://cydia.hackulo.us" y da click en Add Source (Añadir fuente)  

5. Despues de instalada la fuente, busca AppSync en Cydia e Instala la aplicacion, esta parchara el archivo mobileinstallation dentro de tu iphone o itouch...

RedSn0w: Jailbreak your 3.0 iPhone or iPod Touch!

redsn0w is an easy to use, multi-platform, multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking (iPhone 2G only) tool for theiPhone 2G (original iPhone), the iPhone 3G (but not the 3GS) and also the iPod touch (first and second generation). Currently it is available for Windows and Mac OS X (there are some issues using redsn0w with OS X PPC, please use an Intel Mac until we have this problem resolved).

REDSN0W PROVIDES SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY TO QUICKPWN.

If you want to build custom firmware files with more flexibility it is suggested that you use ‘PwnageTool’ on Mac OS X.

  1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use redsn0w right now. Ultrasn0w (the 3G carrier unlock) is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be released via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 carrier unlock works with this redsn0w release.
  2. Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you will be able to get it via Cydia or Icy).
  3. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
  4. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
  5. At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the latest version of redsn0w.
  6. This app is suitable for the recent 3.0 release
  7. redsn0w will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
  8. redsn0w WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch, iPod touch 2G and the iPhone 3G (not the iPhone 3GS).

To use redsn0w simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!)
